- anything!!!How to style your hair with a hair straightener/ flat iron?
You can find plenty of ways to style your hair on YouTube, but there are loads of ways to do it yourself. Try experimenting. Use flicks outwards or inwards to look different but it depends on the thickness of your hair. If you want to try curling it, your better off using actual curlers or making sure you have thin straightners because thick ones dont work aswell. How to style your hair with a hair straightener/ flat iron?

Why do girls/women with nice wavy hair flat-iron or straighten it like a religion?

Before the 20th century, women in Europe and America w/ wavy ginger hair were considered the most beautiful. Even the great Galileo wrote medical treatise on how the women of Europe could have grit for whitening the teeth and a recipe for auburn hair.

Nowadays, even extremely sound-minded women clutch their Chi ceramic irons to their bosoms like a holy mandate.

I have two friends w/ long luscious chestnut hair. They both flat iron their hair like their lives depends upon it. They have both been doing this since jr high school and are now college seniors. Either can explain why they continue the daily struggle to make their hair stick-straight at such a high cost in products, time and damage to their hair.

On days that one of them sleeps in late, I might meet her for lunch and she always exclaims shamfully ';My hair is awful today! It terrible! I hate it.';

My question always is what is wrong with those lovely God-given face-framing curls, ringlets and waves in the first place. Why do girls/women with nice wavy hair flat-iron or straighten it like a religion?
I gave up ironing my hair years ago. It's just what the media likes these days. I love my hair and I stand out in the crowd. We tend to get brain washed into thinking we have to be like everyone else and a majority of people are not blessed with the curls and waves. Therefore, (and I was one of the blind followers for a long time) it makes sense that so many girls try to hide their beautiful locks in favor of blending in. Once they get self-esteem, they usually stop. I know I did and I'll never go back. Why do girls/women with nice wavy hair flat-iron or straighten it like a religion?
Not all women/girls do so.

I agree with you--waves and curls are so pretty.

I love my waves.

Good luck
It's because we want what we do not have, if my hair is straight I want curly hair, if it is curly I want straight hair. Straight hair is really ';in'; right now as well.
I think sometimes people just get bored with seeing the same thing in the mirror every day, or maybe they find a style that they think makes them look good, so they just stick with it. Sometimes it's difficult to see yourself for how you naturally are and really appreciate it. Even I tend to think I look like a monster without a bit of makeup here and there, when in the past I thought makeup was pointless and never wore any. I think people just fall into a routine of doing things and stay that way.
they don't see what you see and in there opinion they think they are hidious unless they meet their self percieved idea of beauty
Well, I have wavy hair but sometimes I like having the sleek look of straight hair. I had pin straight hair my whole life then about 3 years ago my hair started getting wavy--I don't know why. Actually it's crazy wavy right now because it's humid. I like wavy sometimes because I don't have to do it to get ready to go somewhere--a little styling product, air dry and go. I like my hair both ways.
What a strange trend. I didn't even know that women did that until you

mentioned it. There are of course women with naturally straight hair that

use curling irons to make their hair wavy. Evidently, some women innately

prefer straight hair, and others innately prefer wavy hair.

Wavy hair is characterized by the abstract property of fineness, such

that people with a temperament of fineness prefer it, and people with a

temperament of crudeness detest it.

Whats a way to straighten your hair hair with no flat iron? i only have a blow dryer.?

i have wavy hair if there are no ways to straighten hair without flat iron how do you curl it? i dont have a curling i ron but i do have this frizzies stuff that you put in your hair when its damp and i washed and codished my hair with that infusium stuff. thank you!!Whats a way to straighten your hair hair with no flat iron? i only have a blow dryer.?
What I do to ';scrunch'; my hair (curl it) is take a shower and when i get out, towel dry it and then comb it. Then i take some mousse and put it in my hand and push my hand up into my hair and just do that over and over with my hair and then dry it doing the same motion with my hand but no mousse and then spray it with hair spray!Whats a way to straighten your hair hair with no flat iron? i only have a blow dryer.?
First:

After your shower, or when your hair is wet, grab a comb or brush, and brush/comb it a little to get rid of frizzies and some tangles.

Second:

Grab your blowdryer and start blowdrying on low all over your head,

then flip your head down and blowdry on high for a couple minutes

Third:

Make sure your hair is about 60% or 75% dry,

put some frizz serum or detangler on your frizzy prone areas (again)

And take a brush or round brush and start blowdrying

Technique:

Round brush - Roll up hair in round brush while drying with the other hand

Brush - Brush out section of hair about to be blow dryed and dry that section, repeat over again and again

Fourth:

If hair is still wavy take some detangler or infusium and run through hair to be blow dryed again.

Tips:

For the best: Use heat protecter with heated products,

I recommend Dove Heat Protecter Spray (In a red bottle)

Curling with a flat iron:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv-JSQbcu鈥?/a>

It's very simple, and easy! :]
If you want to straighten it you can use a blow dryer and a large round brush. Divide your hair into four sections. You put product in your damp hair. Then blow dry it using the round brush and pull the hair straight out. Put the brush under the hair and blow dry it as you pull the brush out. Then put the brush over the same area and do the same there. You will need to do each side 3 or 4 times each side.

If you want to curl your hair you use the same basic technique, except you roll the hair and twirl a few times while blow drying it. If you want smaller curls, then use a smaller brush and smaller sections.

Good luck hun!

How can I curl my hair to get loose curls?

I curl my hair with a flat iron, how can i curl my hair to get loose curls instead of tight ones. How can I curl my hair to get loose curls?
wrap it more spaced apartHow can I curl my hair to get loose curls?
Use sponge curlers, the work great for loose curls??

I love them leave them in longer for tighter or not so long for wavy curls. There so easy to use I like them better then a curling iron. And they don't damage your hair either. Also make sure your hair is one day dirty the curl will stick longer.
put big rollers in your hair and let them fall when you take them out.
well i think u should use gel instesd of hair spair it seems to make it heavier and tighter and use a bigger iron
after you finish curling them, just comb them through WITH YOUR FINGERS so they loosen up and become wavy instead of little ringlets. Don't use a comb though because it will totally destroy the curls and turn into a mess.

Amika hair iron... how to curl?

Ok, so I just bought the Amika flat iron (the one that also curls) at the mall. I straightened my hair (AWESOME!) and it's just as great as when the girl showed it to me. One small problem... the girl put this really awesome curl in my hair in like two seconds, and I want to curl my hair all over. I can't figure out how to use it to curl! The directions for curling are brief, uninformative, and I just can't seem to get it. Anyone have good directions, or a website with help/info/photos for curling?

Thanks!

ps- yes, it is worth it, for anyone who has considered purchasing one ;)Amika hair iron... how to curl?
difficult to describe, but ill take a shot at it. there are quite a few ways, but try this one. take the section you want to curl and comb it smooth and away from your head *sideways*. hold the iron a few inches away from you scalp with the hair between the iron. wrap that piece around one side of the iron. now close your iron and twirl/pull it away it, unspinning the hair your wrapped around the iron. you need to wrap and twirl the hair in the same direction or there will be this horrible kink in it where the curl begins. troll youtube and you'll find hundreds of video's n how tos if you're looking for other techniques, i just gave you the one i find to be the easiest. Forewarning, USE THERMAL PROTECTANTS! flat irons are hot, like center of the sun hot and can fry hair in a flash, a thermal spray wont cause any grief and itll save your hair. please invest in one especially if your playing around learning curls, as the hair stays in contact with the iron for a much longer time then basic flat ironing. Im not trying to scare you, just warn you that if you hold the iron in one spot for too long, it WILL damage your hair. use a good thermal spray like reken fabricate or spray starch or hot sets, or matrix sllek look flat iron spray. hunt around, you'll be able to find one on sale somewhere, but please please please dont muck about with out one.

How to curl straight hair or give it light waves with a flat iron or bendable rollers?

Hey

I was hoping you could tell me how to curl my hair at home, like before I got for a party or something. Light curls, nothing very flashy or anything. Probably just a few really nice waves (my hair's realllllllllly straight and I've always wondered how it'd look with a few waves).

Something like this -

http://www.tshirtwatch.com/blog/wp-conte鈥?/a>

I know this is a model but we can do this hair at home right?

I have bendable rollers - the kind which have a wire wrapped up with soft foamy material, hairdriers - both the round and long type, round vented brush, leave in conditioner, mousse and a hairspray but I'm not sure how to do it. I also have a flat-iron which doubles as a perming iron but I don't think that's help here right? I don't have any one to help me either, its just going to be me doing it however I can.

Suggestions will be very, very welcome! Please reply and I'll help you with your answers - I promise! Thank you!

P.S. The other hairdryer i have (the one other than the round one) is I think a hot stick. I don't really know for sure but its a straight rod-like hair dryer where heat comes from inside. So yeah. And the hairspray - its liquid and I don't want to use it. Thanks! How to curl straight hair or give it light waves with a flat iron or bendable rollers?
A few things to help you get 'beach waves' ...

Wrap your hair in small buns around your head when your hair is just damp. (Do not draw out partings)

When you wake up in the morning, do not comb or pick your hair, Just take the buns out and go.

Don't make the buns all to tight, take medium size peices of hair, and pin it with bobby pins...

That or look it up on your tube, they have videos online to offer more help....How to curl straight hair or give it light waves with a flat iron or bendable rollers?
Put a piece of your hair in your straightener like you are going to straightenit but wrap your hair around it and then turn the straightener once, slowly, and then slowly move it down like you are straightening it. That should give you light waves. That's what I normally do:)

Help please?

you could either put your hair in the wire rollers while its still kinda damp

and then blow dry it

that might do it

orr use the straightener and twirl it as you go down the hair

or just use it as a curler kind of hold the hair in it and wind it up

and thenhair sparay

or plaid your hair at night andlet it out in the morning :)

hope these work for you
use a lot of hair jell and twist many sections of hair and clip each twisted section in a ball until dry.

Place the flat iron at the root of your hair, pull it all the way down, then curl it back up. Hold it for a second and you should be good.
